Re: food poisoning from pizza by the park
Fri, October 14, 2005 - 10:01 AMJoe's is pretty nasty. Went thee once when I moved into the hood. Never again. There's a new California Pizza Oven place opening where the Cornbread Cafe (R.I.P.) was before it died. Very excited. -

Re: food poisoning from pizza by the park
Fri, October 14, 2005 - 11:59 AMUh, I don't know. I walked by the other day, but maybe it was "Brick Oven Pizza," but I thought of California because I'm all confused. "Oven" and "Pizza" were definitely there though. I miss the Cornbread Cafe. The cajun guy who ran the place looked like a real live friggin' muppet. -

Wed, October 19, 2005 - 9:20 AMIs it just me, or does park slope have the worst pizza selection in new york? -
-
Re: food poisoning from pizza by the park
Wed, October 19, 2005 - 10:14 AMI found the poison to be quite delicious. Any PS pizza would be 100 times better than most SF pizza. But obviously I had no more pizza the rest of that trip. -

Re: food poisoning from pizza by the park
Wed, October 19, 2005 - 10:42 AMI dont think I even ate pizza the entire time I lived in SF.
Although I did eat about 5 MILLION burritos at 2am. -

Are you kidding me? I've lived in the Slope over 7 years (over 17 yrs. total in NYC) and I think you're WAY off-point!!!
Here are my faves in the 'hood:
- Pino's La Forchetta on 7th Ave.
- Oscar's Pizza on 7th Ave. (Lincoln/St. John's)
- Smiling Pizza 7th Ave. & 9th St.
- Tomato & Basil at 4th Ave. & Union
And I know many people hate on this place but I really like their 5th Ave. special:
- 5th Avenue Pizza @ Union

Re: food poisoning from pizza by the park
Wed, October 19, 2005 - 1:56 PMPizza in S.F. generally sucks!
I was at that (late nite) spot in the Castro on Monday Nite. The Pizza dude wanted to charge me the same price for an entire pie (mushroom) as he'd charge for individual slices. I insulted him and left.
This is one reason why I'll never call S.F. home ever again.
