I can't say I've been to a whole slew of them, but I'd have to say that 12th Street (on 8th avenue) is pretty darn good for the price. They have a really nice Crusted Salmon with velvety mushroom ravioli.
Blue Ribbon is mad expensive, but I L-O-V-E their Chocolatechip Bread pudding. Their oxtail dish isn't bad either.
Long Tan seems to be the only worthwhile Thai rest. in the area.
Looking forward to trying Al di La soon. Okay, that's it from me. Hope to have you guys chime in.
50 degrees and sunny, can it get better than this? actually, yes it can.

Re: Let's talk restaurants. Any favorites out there in Park Slope?
Sat, February 28, 2004 - 4:37 PMpreheat oven to 350 or maybe even 400 (god Im forgetting ;( )
cube or tear up a 20-22 oz bag of white bread into an large pot.
1 qt half & half
4 whole eggs 8 yolks...XLarge eggs please
1 c brown sugar
cinnamon to taste...maybe 1/4 teaspoon
vanilla to taste
large bottle Hersheys or *hey this is Brooklyn damn it...* Fox's U~Bet choccy syrup!
1 lb butterscotch or dark chocolate chips
Youll probably have to do the mix in two halves....so figure it out lol...
eggs sugar vanilla and cinnamon in blender jar...blend only till mixed well. Choccy syrup and half & half to top off the jar. Blend again only til well blended.
pour into the bread in the pot. fold in almost the entire pound of chips. gotta save some for munchin....
okay find a deep baking pan...if you got a rectangular one big enough super..if not, two smaller square ones...preferrably disposable.
dont grease em you wont need it
put the pan in a large roasting pan...fill it to one inch depth with HOT water. Into the oven for 90 minutes...turn the heat off and let it sit another half hour in there.

Re: Let's talk restaurants. Any favorites out there in Park Slope?
Sun, February 29, 2004 - 3:29 PMyum! I've been looking for a good bread pudding recipe lately.. i think after this atkins thing crumbles (they now have Entemenns cakes, atkins style, in like 20 varieties!), more people are gonna become foodies again and eat delicious comfort food, regardless of calories.
restaurants.. well after living here for 3 years, i finally checked out Beso a month ago for brunch. We live closer to the 9th st station, so there's so many good dinner places on the way that we've just sorta ignored Beso, but I didn't feel like treking up to Two Boots or 2nd Ave for brunch one Sunday. Amazingly good, and a great chipotle bloody special, too! I think it's $10 for a breakfast entree, coffee, and tropical juice. So good, we went back the following weekend for dinner, and 2 of usstuffed ourselves silly with the chile releno and a salad and appetizer, and the chef sent over like 10 deepfried shrimps or something, just because he was testing it out. Such a classy move.
I went back to La Villa today, to show off our local Pizza Police approved spot to an out of town friend. They dont bother with a brunch menu because the food stands up for itself at any time of day. Tried the calzone for the first time.. the thing was almost as big as their ridiculously huge menu! The second half made for a great late afternoon snack.
We used to be obsessed with ordering from Rice Thai Kitchen, and gave it another shot last week. Not quite as good as I remembered it, but damn good.
Sushi Tatsu is still the best deal in town, I think. $6 lunch deals with soup and salad and an entree, from 12-4, free delivery. I order two, and have a little buffet off both, saving at least a whole meal for dinner.. 2 meals for $12?? The spicy tuna roll is kinda whack though.
yay a place i can finally post my reviews, to people who will actually appreciate it! At least I hope so.. -

Re: Let's talk restaurants. Any favorites out there in Park Slope?
Sun, April 2, 2006 - 11:17 AMI've got a few great restaurants for you guys to try. Bogota on 5th and St. Marks (I think that's the crossstreet) where you can get Sunday brunch for $10 including alcoholic beverage. Amazing latin American food, fried cheese, interesting salad and eggs. Everything is so unique and it tastes fresh and amazing. Ambiance is perfect.
Tamari sushi on 5th and Union---just opened, very fresh, very cheap, great atomosphere, even has a large assortment of saki's. My favorite is their spicy tuna roll. Happy hour 4-7 on weekdays, try the different saki's.
Gorilla coffee obviously has the best coffee on the planet and Chocolate Bar accross the street has best handmade chocolates and phenominal dessert wines and Reislings

Sun, May 9, 2004 - 6:15 PM> We used to be obsessed with... Rice Thai Kitchen...
> not quite as good as I remembered it, but damn good.
I agree; RICE is damn good -- Never had a bad meal there!
- MANGO - The new Thai fusion joint at 52 7th Ave. near Lincoln Place is really good! I ordered in some slammin' food and y'know what... I'm getting on the phone with them right now! ha ha! I'm getting the Basil Beef, Chicken w/ Peanut Sauce, Crispy Calamari and Iced Thai Coffee. Mmmmmmmmmmm :-P
- T (Thai Cuisine) 125 7th Ave. (718) 622-9376 Very good dishes, kinda' small dishes though. Not cheap either!
- Al Di La Totally amazing taste to this food. Unfortunately, the wait for a table and the prices are too much for me. HELLO... everyone in Pk. Slope isn't rich!!!
- Aunt Suzie Italian Kitchen 247 5th Ave. (btwn. Carroll/Garfield) Best deal in town -- Food is exceptional... Prices are phenomenal... Great home-cooking ;-)
- Oscar's Pizza 54 7th Ave. and Lincoln Place
Amidst all the hype/controversy over Oscar leaving his old home @ ROMA Pizza, he's moved on and opened his own place... It rocks, too.
- Pino's La Forchetta 181 7th Ave. (btwn. 1st and 2nd) Awesome "Special" Pizza and GREAT stromboli :-P
May I suggest you Order-in.
- Tony & Son Pizzeria 119 5th Ave (across from Keyfood) Home of the Sesame Seed Crust!!!
- Red Hot Szechuan 349 7th Ave. (corner of 10th)
Healthy Chinese at a decent price.
- Joy Indian Restaurant 301 Flatbush Ave. (btwn. Prospect Place/St. Marks Ave.) VERY very good Indian fare. Prices are comprable to Manhattan's Little India Row.
- La Taqueria 72 7th Ave. (btwn. Lincoln Place/Berkeley) One of the tastiest Cal-Mex in the area! Reminds me of home (San Fran, CA.) Try their "Outrageous Burrito")
- Elora's 272 Prospect Pk. West (718) 788-6190
I ordered some delivery from this Mex/Spanish spot. I was real hungry so can't remember if the food was really AS GOOD as it seemed at the time.
- Chip Shop 383 5th Ave. (718) 832-7701
Great (and light) Fish and Chips + other UK goodies!
Bon Apetit - MORE TO COME!!!

Re: Let's talk restaurants. Any favorites out there in Park Slope?
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 3:08 PMAl Di La is always on the top of my list for a semi-fancy dinner. Convivium Osteria also fits this bill, TEMPO is great and Blue Ribbon is amazing, although I've only been able to afford to go there once.
For more basic food and ordering - Chip Shop, Rice, La Villa, Maria's Mexican, Laila, Brawta Outpost and Café Steinhof.
For brunch - Stone Parke Café, Cocotte or Dizzy's. And, of course, Daisey's is the can-do neighbourhood diner.
Cocoa Bar or The Chocolate Room for dessert, anyone?
Now I'm hungry! -
